Olimpiad Fizik Malaysia (OFM) is here - read below to find out how you can participate in the National Selection Test for the International Physics Olympiad!

INTRODUCTION

Malaysian students interested to represent the country at the International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) must undergo the national selection process.

The national team comprised of five high school/pre-university students and two team leaders.

The students are selected from various streams, including national schools (STPM, SPM, Matriculation), MARA, Asasi Sains Universiti Malaya, indepedent Chinese schools, and international pre-university programs.

The national selection process is conducted by the Malaysian Physics Olympiad Committee (Jawatankuasa Olimpiad Fizik Malaysia, JK OFM) based at the Department of Applied Physics, Faculty of Science and Technology, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Bangi Selangor.

The Malaysian Physics Olympiad Committee comprised of selfless physics educators from university, pre-university and school levels.

NATIONAL SELECTION PROCESS FOR 2023 (Last updated 11/2/2023)

The host country for IPhO 2023 is Japan and IPhO 2023 will run from 10 till 17 July in Tokyo.

The national selection process for IPhO 2023 will commence in March.

It will consist of FIVE training camps between March and July.

The tentative dates are as follows:

February

  • Announcement of the national selection process for 2023

March

  • Training camp 1 (face-to-face at UKM Bangi)

April

  • Training camp 2 (online)

May

  • Training camp 3 (face-to-face at UKM Bangi)
  • Announcement of the final team members to IPhO 2023

June

  • Training camp 4 (face-to-face at UKM Bangi)

July

  • Training camp 5 (face-to-face at UKM Bangi)
  • International Physics Olympiad 2023 in Tokyo, Japan
